An overdue update

Yes, six months since my entry.  Our family has been, to say the least, busy.  But, every family in America is busy...I have been busy and frankly did not feel like writing.  I don't want this blog to become another 'to do' on my list.  This is a therapeutic outlet for me and if I'm not in the mood to write, well, I just won't.

Today, I am in the mood to write!

Our family has been through a lot of changes since my last update so hold on...here we go!

My husband accepted a new job that requires him to travel every week, I went back to work full time, and....we are having another baby (due any moment)!  Managing a house alone with two boys while pregnant and working full time has not been easy, but, surprisingly manageable.  I am not going to lie, I cried about once per week and wondered WTF we were thinking and would sooner live in a trailer by the river than go through another day of doing this crazy life, however, it is amazing what you can do when you are in a situation and just set your mind to it. (Had I been able to drink wine much would have been consumed)

Now, this real subject of this blog is Owen, so let me bring it back to him.  He finished out Kindergarten in a MUCH better place than where we started.  There where some scary moments at the beginning, and we worried that we would have to pull him out of his school....or that his school would pull him out for us (a private school).  My kiddo turned it around though.  He was never (and will never) be the perfect student, but at least we know he can make improvements with the right environment.  He started the year not really connecting with his classmates, and by the last month proposed marriage to his best friend Zoe.  He 'graduated' from his group therapy (because he was no longer challenged) and now has private therapy with a wonderful therapist.  He would fight his reading assignments and now picks up books and reads them to himself (we are talking beginner reader books here...not War & Peace).  His writing and overall behavior have improved as well.  If you put him next to another almost-7 yr old, you would still see a difference, Owen just seems 'younger' and less mature, BUT, he is improving and I think THAT is what matters.  He will start 1st grade at our public school in the fall.  This was a hard decision for us because he was doing so well towards the end at his private school, but we think a public school will have the resources to assist him better.

Owen is SO freaking excited for this baby!!!  This warms my heart more than I can even say.  He had a countdown on his calendar and when he changed it over to June said "Mommy!!  Its finally June!!  The baby is coming!".  This is quite the change from when Levi was born and he could care less, but he was also two.

So, we wait patiently for Baby N to arrive.  We are all so excited to meet this baby.  I grew up an only child which was rather lonely so I am stoked about having a bigger family.  Am I anxious about being a single mom during the week to 3 kids?  No....I'm actually kind of terrified.  But, I believe the goodness will far outweigh the tough times and, as a friend said recently, I can do hard things.
